We still give the slight optical edge to ChromaPop due to its more vibrant and natural colors, but Anon has the top quick-change system on the market. Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (or rPET for short) is manufactured using post consumer recycled plastic bottles. The extra material inside of the lens impacts airflow, and just as importantly, your prescription glasses lack an anti-fog coating. As with other photochromic lenses, it has some pitfalls—such as reacting slowly going in and out of trees—but it’s largely effective and you rarely notice any issues. The advantage of a toric lens is largely aesthetic, and it will appeal to folks that don’t like the bug-eye look of a spherical lens but still want the rounded shape.

An innovative replacement to a goggle bag, the gogglesoc is a stretchy microfiber ski goggle cover made from recycled plastic bottles. Alternatively, Oakley also offers the Flight Tracker line, which has a low-profile frame to improve visibility at the edges. However, the majority of the credit should be given to its large spherical lens and low-profile design. And brands like Dragon and Scott utilize lever-based systems that offer similar convenience, albeit in a slightly less premium setup. That said, for those that purchase a goggle with a single lens or only plan to change tints on rare occasions, it can be serviceable (although we recommend making the swap at home rather than outside on the mountain). The above tips cover some of the basics of this topic, but for a deeper look check out our article on How to Prevent Your Ski Goggles From Fogging. Like the brand’s Axis below, the ventilation system seems to prioritize protection around the frame over all-out airflow, which makes it a bit more prone to fogging up.

Of note, Anon has released the M5 Goggle for winter 2023-2024, which features a few cosmetic tweaks and a flat toric lens. We have good news for wearers of prescription glasses: There are a number of over-the-glasses (OTG) goggles on the market.

Whether you ski, snowboard, or both, there's no denying that ski goggle covers are essential if you want to keep your goggles and extra lenses scratch-free. With a wide hatch and a zip closure, plus a convenient carrying strap, this case makes it easy to transport your ski goggles—it even fits extra lenses in addition to the pair of goggles! Additionally, some covers come with anti-fog coatings that help extend the life of their lenses so you get better visibility while out there shredding down the slopes! Top toric-shape goggles for the 2023-2024 season fall primarily on the premium end of the spectrum, including Anon’s M4 MFI and Giro’s Contour (not included here). Ski goggles also provide an extra layer of insulation around your eyes which helps reduce any windburn that might occur when you're speeding down the mountain or taking off after performing a trick.
